Christina became a fan of Voyager after reading the promo in TV Guide before the first episode ever aired. She remained a loyal viewer until Workforce, then the spoilers and rumors for later episodes, especially Endgame turned her off and sent her on a mission: to put together a team of talented writers and production staff and create the Season 7.5 project. Besides writing Voyager stories, she also writes Star Wars and Remember WENN fanfiction. She has been writing Voyager fanfiction for five years.
CyberMum got her name when her daughter fixed her up with an internet account and a web browser in order to keep her mother amused (and out of her hair) while she was housebound, recuperating from a severed Achilles tendon. Having watched TOS in its original incarnation, and having been re-introduced to Trek - TNG - by this same daughter it was only natural that one of 'Mum's' first net 'searches' would involve Star Trek. A whole new world opened up, and CyberMum, who had been watching Voyager since it's premiere, was hooked...but good. She was immediately taken with the J/C phenomenon, and found her poetic feet in the wee hours of one never to be forgotten night exchanging silly limericks with YCD. The rest, as they say, is HerStory...
Janet, better known as "jamelia" on the Internet, discovered science fiction and fantasy at the age of 12 through the works of Asimov, Bradbury, Heinlein, and Andre Norton. She caught the premiere of "Star Trek" on NBC, hoping that, for once, science fiction would be done right. After 35 years of rabid Trek fandom, it is safe to say the answer for Janet is "yes!" While she loves all the versions of Trek, Voyager, particularly the characters of B'Elanna Torres and Tom Paris, captured her imagination the most. Janet began writing fanfic as a member of the P/T Collective during Voyager's third season. She is very grateful to the readers of the alternate.startrek.creative newsgroup for the awards they have given her, including the Alara Rogers Award for Best Author for the year 1998. Janet, a social worker, lives in New Jersey with her husband, two sons, and her mom.
Julie is another southern California girl, who has been a fan of Star Trek for twenty-five years. She's seen every episode of every Trek series, but it was the characters on Voyager who piqued her deepest interest. Thanks to fanfic, which she discovered on the Internet, she came to love these characters even more. She's been writing Voyager fanfic for over four years, including the AU "Aurora" colonization series, and a number of P/T stories (she also admits to being a hopeless romantic ;-). In her real life she works for Fedex, and appreciates the opportunity it has given her to indulge in her favorite hobby outside of Star Trek and writing--traveling to new places.
Mary 'monkee' Wiecek has been an avid Star Trek fan since she saw a rerun of 'The Enterprise Incident' in the early 70's. Once an environmental geologist, she is now a stay-at-home wife and mother of three. She's been writing fanfic for five years, mostly Voyager and J/C, although she's making an effort to branch out into the 'Enterprise' universe. She has had two stories appear in the Pocket Books Strange New Worlds anthology. Her most recent effort, 'Disappearance on 21st Street,' won the grand prize. Non-Trek passions include television (West Wing, Farscape, Andromeda), movies, art, playing with her kids while they're still little enough to want anything to do with her, and Tai Chi.
Penny's imagination stowed away on the Enterprise under Captain Kirk when she was all of 10 and hasn't left Starfleet since, although it seems to have blossomed on Voyager. She discovered fanfiction about two years ago and has been writing Trek stories ever since, under her own name and the name "E.J.Andrews." She's proud to have a story in "Strange New Worlds IV" and to have received several ASC awards for 2000. When she's not writing Trek, she's a corporate attorney specializing in healthcare law.
Rocky is a former teacher and current science writer who's been a Star Trek fan since the days when TOS was the only game in town. She's avidly followed all the incarnations of Trek since, but Voyager (and Janeway) hold a special place in her heart. Although originally disdainful of 'fanfic' until she discovered 'the good stuff', for the past three years Rocky has been writing Voyager-based stories, including a number of ASC award winners.
"I remember being a little kid; lying on the floor and watching Kirk and Bones and Spock save the day and thinking that's what I want to be. I want to be that heroic, that smart and live in a universe that has such possibility" --ok, so I was a kid and what I really said was "COOL!", but I meant all that other stuff. A lifelong fan of Trek, Sara has been writing some form of fanfic for almost 15 years. (Egad! That makes her sound old!) Exploring the characters is what writing fanfic is all about for this fan. When not reading/watching Trek she stays busy as the stereotypical Soccer Mom. She writes other forms of fanfic, loves all science fiction, reads tons of books and spends a lot of time with her dog.
| By the time VOY started, Diane B. was into the web and had a couple of my TNG and DS9 stories published in fanzines. My first VOY story, in fact, was a Chakotay story, based on the idea that the child Seska created really *was* his and that the baby was not taken by the Kazon, but remained on board Voyager. VOY then became *my* baby.
As with my Trek obsession in general, I came late to P/T, but when I got there, pow, I was *there!* I continue to be a P/T girl at heart, but I find great satisfaction in nearly all manner of Trek fanzines and webfiction, including TOS and ENT, and also in many of the pro novels. These stories take the characters and make them truly come alive, something TPTB at Paramount never dared to do. |
Andra is a native of Southern California and has been writing fan fiction for over thirteen years. She became a Trekker during TNG's 3rd season when she discovered Riker/Troi, then briefly defected to DS9 to drool over Julian before Voyager premiered and she discovered the magic of J/C. Although best known for her VOY stories, she has also dabbled in fan fiction for "The X Files" and "Kung Fu: The Legend Continues". Thirty something and single, her non-Trek passions include animals, country music and chocolate chip cookies.
